Description:

Provides emergency shelter services for families and single women. Provides case management, housing, employment and child care services. Includes housing, laundry service or laundry facilities, meals or areas for meal refrigeration and preparation, clothing, transportation, furniture and household items, connection to community resources, employment services and housing access.

Eligibility:

Families must be married or biological or legal guardian of at least one child. Must pass a background screen and drug screen. Can't accept client with a history of mental illness or substance abuse who are not currently in treatment.

Metropolitan Ministries will accept and place clients that meet the following conditions into Emergency and/or Bridge Housing as applicable:
1. Provides proper identification, including documentation of Hillsborough County residency; and
2. All adult members (age 18 or older) of the client's household, must submit to drug testing, in accordance with MM policies, then in effect; and
3. All adult members (age 18 or older) of the client's household must submit to a criminal history check in accordance with MM policies, then in effect. Clients will be rejected for felony convictions defined as violent crimes in the past 10 years and/or designation as or required to be registered as a sex offender, sexual predator, or sexually violent predator, as defined by Florida Statutes Sections 943.0435, 755.21 and 394.912, respectively. 4. Possess income level appropriate to support family housing needs or be motivated and able to gain employment to reach income level needed.
5. MM shall evaluate clients with a history of mental illness or substance abuse, not currently in treatment, and make a referral for services as necessary.

Clients who may not meet the conditions 1 through 4 above, but are working and/or work ready and receptive to home visitation case management may be placed in an apartment, inspected and approved by MM and County prior to occupancy.
